Margaret is a foundation member of the Habitat Association for arts and environment, vice president and arts director for the organisation.

My name is Margaret Ellem and I have only been seriously painting for the last four years. I had dabbled in painting a few times in the earlier years of my life, but not had any formal lessons. Now I’m currently undergoing watercolour painting classes on a Wednesday morning with Margaret Towler,a porcelain painter and watercolourist at Buff Point near where I live.  My latest few paintings, e.g The Hydrangeas and the Buff Point trees and some of my Sydney paintings are watercolours, and my Venice canal painting is an oil painting. My Tasmanian Devil painting is an acrylic and The Sumatran Tiger is done with pastels.
